Major water shutoff planned overnight

GREENVILLE — A large portion of Greenville may be dry between late tonight and early tomorrow morning.

City of Greenville Water Distribution crews intend to make repairs overnight to a 20 inch water transmission line that serves the entire south and east section of the city

Crews are scheduled to begin turning valves off shortly after 11:30 p.m.tonight.  Residences and businesses on the south and east sides of Greenville may experience water service interruption or low water pressure until early Saturday morning.

Affected areas include: Fannin Street from Forrester Street north to the railroad; Forrester from Fannin Street to FM 499 and the Shady Grove Water Corporation area; the south side of Interstate 30 from FM 499 south to Highway 69; and Division Street from I-30 east.

In the event of rain, the repairs may be cancelled and rescheduled at a later date.
