A full day of “Rallying” expected

GREENVILLE — Perfect weather, music, dancing and fun are expected to greet visitors coming to downtown Greenville today for the Rally ‘Round Greenville, presented by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

Now that the rain has moved out of the area, today’s forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and a high around 80 degrees.

A full day of activities are on tap, leading up to the free concert tonight from Jack Ingram. Ingram is scheduled to take the stage at 10 p.m., but before there then there is continuous entertainment planned on both the Bud Light Stage on the courthouse square, the Kids Alley Stage and more. Live performances are scheduled from artists ranging from Lou Ann Petty to Josh Davis as Elvis, to the Blandelles, Matt Dunn, Jonathan Jeter and The Revelators and Pearl Street Riot with Michael O’neal.

Presentations are also set from the Greenville ISD Drum Line, the Creative Arts Community, Phoenix Charter School, Dance Prodigy, Studio A Dance Company, the October 5th Band, and the Academy of Dance Music and Theater.

There will be games and activities, as well as a wide variety of food and arts and crafts vendors lining the streets. There is a BBQ cook off, a art show, world record juggler and comedian David Black and many more events.

The Greenville Habitat for Humanity, along with L-3 Mission Integration, are hosting a Casino Night, starting at 7 p.m. inside Landon Winery. Visitors can buy their chips at the door for the come and go event, the proceeds from which help support Habitat for Humanity.

The Blue Mesquite Grill, 2808 Lee Street, is hosting Grammy award winner Brad Davis, Acoustic and in the Rough. Davis, who has performed with Billy Bob Thorton, Earl Scruggs and Marty Stuart, will be performing from 7-9 p.m. tonight and shooting footage for the music video for his upcoming single, “Never Give The Devil a Ride” which will be nationally broadcast on the Network show “Nashville’s Country Revival with Bill Traylor.
