A state appeals court is scheduled early next month to consider the case of a local man, who was found guilty and sentenced to prison in connection with the 2010 armed robbery of a Quinlan-area game room and a shootout with a Hunt County Sheriff’s deputy.
Guadalupe Ramirez III was found guilty in November 2011 on one count each of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer and three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The jury in the 196th District Court sentenced Ramirez to 75 years in prison.
The Sixth District Court of Appeals in Texarkana intends to hear Ramirez’s appeal November 7.
Ramirez and Darreus Demont Williams of Van Alstyne allegedly acted alongside Vincent Thomas of Greenville on the night of Feb. 20, 2010 during the armed hold-up of Bonnie Lou’s Game Room on State Highway 276.
Both Ramirez and Williams pleaded not guilty. Williams has trial scheduled starting Monday.
Thomas was shot and killed during a gun battle with a Hunt County Sheriff’s deputy following a chase which ended at the Greenville city limits.
