Fall weather returning today

GREENVILLE — The fall season is expected to return to the area today, and stick around at least through the weekend.

A powerful cold front is forecast to blow into North Texas by this evening, bringing with it a chance of rain and a significant drop in temperatures.

Wednesday’s high reached 82 degrees in Greenville and the high today is expected to come close to the same mark. After that though will come a change from short sleeves to sweaters.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. today, with winds gusting first out of the south and then out of the west at up to 20 mph.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, with a low of around 49 degrees. By then winds are expected to be gusting out of the north.

There is another slight chance of rain Friday, with a high of only 56 degrees and winds continuing to blow out of the north, and with a low Friday night around 40 degrees.
