A patriotic anniversary scheduled Saturday

GREENVILLE — The local chapter of the Sons of the American (SAR) is about to mark its silver anniversary.

With the Veterans Day holiday approaching, the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter is also wanting to recognize its members who have served in the military.

A special awards ceremony is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library, 1 Lou Finney Lane in Greenville, according to chapter President Wendell Edwards.

“This coming year the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter will be celebrating its 25th anniversary,” Edwards said. “We will be recognizing and honoring the Charter members, members who have served in the military armed forces, inducting two new SAR members, recognizing members who have maintained membership for  five years or more, and others in the community who have made significant contributions in helping the Chapter achieve its patriotic and educational goals and objectives.”

The meeting is free and open to the public.
