Voters turn out for municipal elections

County voters participated in a variety of municipal elections, including several mayoral races. Results, by city, are listed below.

Caddo Mills — G.T Parsons (187 votes), Tod McMahan (168), and Stacey (Gavin) Plasek (163) were elected as Caddo Mills ISD Trustees.

Campbell — Voters in the City of Campbell Saturday said “yes” to using a portion of the sales tax revenue collected by the city to fix local streets, but shouted a loud “no” to allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages in local stores.

Voters also chose five members for the Campbell Independent School District board of trustees.

Proposition 1 on the City of Campbell election ballot called for the reauthorization of the local sales and use tax in the City of Campbell at the rate of one-fourth percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of local streets. Voters cast 73 ballots (75.26 percent) for the measure, to 24 votes (24.74 percent) against.

Proposition 2 on the City of Campbell election ballot called for the legal sale of all alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption only. The measure failed by a vote of 65 votes (67.01 percent) against to 32 votes (32.99 percent) in favor.

Voters elected Andy Coffman (163 votes), Bobby Whisenhunt (157 votes), Jan French (145 votes), Ken Duke (142 votes) and David French Jr. (114 votes) to the Campbell ISD board.

Celeste —  Fred C. Reynolds and James Lawton Seigler were both elected as city council members.

Commerce — Michael Beane defeated Karen Maxwell by a wide margin in the race for Commerce ISD Trustee, Place 3.

Lone Oak — Shirley Stogner was elected mayor, Douglas E. Williams Jr. narrowly defeated Gordon Galloway for city council, Place 5, and Paul Kelley, Danny Calk and Orville Gentry were elected as Lone Oak ISD trustees. Thomas Patterson defeated Angel M. Smith for Lone Oak ISD trustee.

Quinlan — Donny Brock was elected as Quinlan mayor. Brandon S. Frazier and Charlie B. Thompson were elected as city council members.

Union Valley — Craig Waskow and John Oznick won a race for Union Valley City Commissioners.

Wolfe City — Barbara Woodruff defeated Jeff McDaniel for Wolfe City mayor, and Rita Dodson and Jamie Malone Moore won positions on the Wolfe City Council.
