Police investigating unattended death

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Police Department is investigating a Wednesday night death at a local hotel.

The department issued a statement Thursday indicating that officers were dispatched to call of an unresponsive person in a room at the hotel in the 5000 block of Interstate 30 in Greenville at approximately 7:35 p.m. Wednesday.

Also responding were the Greenville Fire Department and American Medical Response.

A white male was found deceased at the scene. The victim was staying with another man at the motel, who was the person who reported the victim’s condition and summoned assistance.

The reporting party indicated that the man had been to the local emergency room seeking treatment for an ailment on more than one occasion.

As it was an unattended death, officers conducted an investigation at the scene and Justice of the Peace Wayne Money responded and called for an autopsy.

No additional information, including the name of the deceased, was released Thursday, pending the confirmation of notification of next of kin.
