GREENVILLE — Motorists who take U.S. Highway 380 will be noticing some changes starting Friday.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced RK Hall Construction plans to switch the highway’s westbound traffic to the newly constructed westbound lanes from just east of FM 903 to U.S. Highway 69 in Greenville.

Following the traffic switch the contractor intends to begin placing the final hot mix surface on the eastbound lanes and re-stripe for one-way operation. The TxDOT announcement advised the work on the eastbound lanes will be done under traffic and requested motorists to observe all signs, and flaggers, and be aware of lane closures.

The announcement indicated the completion of the project, weather permitting, is the end of August.

The job of widening the highway from two to four lanes through Hunt County began in the fall of 2007. Business Highway 380, where it passed through Floyd, was abandoned in favor of a new path for the highway around the city.

The project had been expected to be wrapped up by October of last year, but there were additional delays due to the discovery of previously unknown utility lines which needed to be removed and relocated.
