Hearings set on proposed Caddo Mills project

CADDO MILLS — The City of Caddo Mills has two public hearings scheduled this week, concerning plans to annex property where developers want to build a professional motocross track.

“We filed an application for the annexation,” said Gary Rausin with the proposed Texas Motopark project, which would also include competition watersports, a BMX racing arena and camping facilities among other amenities.

The hearings are set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Caddo Mills City Hall, 2313 Main Street and at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Caddo Mills Police Department, 2309 Main Street.

The hearings concern two tracts, totaling almost 90 acres under development by Diablo Sports marketing, in an area near the intersection of Interstate 30 and FM 1565.

Rausin said the facility has been in development for about three years and would fit in with the nearby Redline Raceway and Dallas Karting Complex.

“Hopefully, someday there will be a lot of racing going on out there,” Rausin said, adding the annexation would be necessary in order to allow for the city to provide the necessary water, sewer and other infrastructure needed for the development.

The web site for the project, www.texasmotopark.com, also includes plans for a concert amphitheater, spaces for a dozen food and merchandise vendors and promises events and activities could be conducted at site almost year-round.
