Vigil scheduled on anniversary of Moore's disappearance

GREENVILLE — It has been almost six months since a Greenville teenager disappeared from a site not far from her home.

Alicia Moore was found murdered a few days later. The case remains unsolved.

Moore’s family members intend to gather in Greenville next week, for an event designed to help keep Moore’s memory alive.

A candlelight vigil and balloon release are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Bourland and Walnut Streets in Greenville, the location where Moore was last seen alive. Special guest for the event will be Rev. Henry Batson of Friendship-West Baptist Church in Dallas.

Moore was last seen on the afternoon of Nov. 2, 2012 getting off of a school bus at the intersection. Her body was found four days later along FM 47 in Van Zandt County. The Greenville Police Department has joined with multiple other agencies in conducting a homicide investigation, but no arrests have been made and no suspects identified in the case.

A $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Moore’s death remains active.

Anyone with information concerning the case is being asked to contact Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
