GREENVILLE — The Greenville Police Department is still seeking the public’s help in finding a suspect who escaped authorities following a more than 10-hour standoff outside of a local residence.

Brandon Cole Thompson of Greenville is wanted in connection with a burglary of a habitation in Van Zandt County Thursday, during which weapons were stolen.

Thompson was believed to have been barricaded inside a residence on Rabb Drive in Greenville throughout the day Thursday, but when tactical officers with the police department and the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office entered the home Thursday night, they found Thompson was not inside.

Thompson was described as a white male, 24, five-foot-eight, 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. Thompson may be wearing blue jeans, and a gray and black zip-up hoodie.

According to a statement from the police department, the burglary in Van Zandt County was interrupted by the homeowner, who then traveled to Greenville to confront Thompson at Thompson’s residence in the 2300 block of Rabb Drive.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department later detained and interviewed another person in connection with the incident. That person was released with no charges filed.

The neighborhood around the home was secured and local schools and the Hunt Regional Medical Center hospital in Greenville were placed on lockdown during the day Thursday as a precaution.

Anyone with information as to Thompson’s location is asked to contact the Greenville Police Department at 903-457-2900. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
