One arrested following stolen vehicle chase

GREENVILLE — A Tarrant County man is in custody at the Hunt County Jail, after being thrown from a stolen vehicle which he allegedly crashed following a brief Sunday afternoon chase.

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said quick communication between a dispatcher and deputy resulted in the arrest.

“The suspect in the stolen vehicle is Joshua McKay Flowers, 24 of Irving,” Meeks said. ”I want to commend Deputy Chris Dewey and Communications Officer Bridget Lanier with their quick thinking in appending this suspected car thief.”

Flowers was booked into the jail Monday evening, after being released from the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Meeks said Dewey initiated a traffic stop Sunday afternoon along County Road 3707 in far south Hunt County.

“The dispatcher on duty immediately ran the license plate of the vehicle and discovered that the vehicle was stolen out of Plano” Meeks said. “At the same time that the dispatcher was giving Deputy Dewey that information, the driver of the vehicle attempted to evade Deputy Dewey. The driver of the vehicle lost control and wrecked into a pipe fence. The impact of the crash caused the suspect to be ejected out and he landed in the roadway.”

Dewey called for an ambulance, which transported Flowers to the hospital.

Flowers was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and evading arrest with a motor vehicle. Bond had not been set as of Tuesday evening.
