The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and officers with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) joined forces Wednesday evening to apprehend a burglary suspect in possession of a powerful firearm in the Floyd Community west of Greenville.
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said the SWAT team executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence on County Road 1154 at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
“We received information that a burglary suspect was inside this residence,” Meeks said. “Attempts had been made to have the suspect to come out on his own and surrender. He refused to come out. I was quite concerned about my officer’s safety because our information revealed that the suspect had stolen a .50 caliber rifle that had been stolen in a burglary. This is a very powerful weapon. However, the bad guy went to jail and none of law enforcement personnel were injured.”
Christopher Anthony Davidson, 44, of Quinlan was arrested and charged with burglary of a building. Davidson remained in custody at the jail Thursday afternoon. Bond had not yet been set.
“I want to commend our in SWAT team in the execution of this warrant as they performed their tasks as planned,” Meeks said. “I also want to thank Constable Terry Jones and the ATF in their assistance in locating this suspect.”
