Another winter blast on way

GREENVILLE — Anyone headed to Christmas-related events later this week will definitely need to dress as warm as possible for the occasions, and there is also a potential for some wintry precipitation during the time frame.

As of today, both Christmas on the Square on Thursday night and Friday night’s Downtown Christmas Parade in Greenville were still scheduled to take place.

The National Weather Service issued a “winter storm outlook” Monday afternoon, warning of the possibility of ice and/or snow Thursday and Friday.

The forecast was calling for a 60 percent chance of rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm Thursday, with a high near 42 and winds out of the north gusting as high as 20 mph.

There is a chance of freezing rain by early Friday morning, with a low around 28, then a likelihood of rain, freezing rain, and sleet during the day Friday, with a high near 33.

There were additional chances for freezing rain and/or sleet in the forecast for Saturday and Saturday night.
