Cowboys, Packers to be shown on television

Dallas Cowboys fans, as well as the assorted Cheeseheads in Greenville, can breathe a sigh of relief.

Tonight’s big game between the two teams with the best records in the National Football Conferencewill be on television locally.

Officials with both Time Warner Cable and GEUS Cable said Wednesday that they will carry the contest between the Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers which is to be aired on KDFI Television, starting at 7:15 p.m.

KDFI is listed as cable channel 17 for both Time Warner and GEUS. GEUS will also be carrying the high-definition version of the game on its channel 217.

There had been some concern that the game would not be seen locally, as it is being originated on the NFL Network. The NFL Network and Time Warner are in the middle of a dispute over carrying the channel and a press release issued Wednesday by the NFL Network claimed that only one-third of the television sets in America would have access to the showdown.

But the cable television watchers in Greenville will be part of that one-third.
