A hunting we will go

There will be lots of brightly colored eggs hidden in the grasses across Hunt County this weekend, and plenty of opportunities for children to find them.

— The sixth annual Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the City of Greenville, is scheduled Saturday morning on the softball fields inside the Greenville SportsPark at the corner of Sayle Street and Kari Lane/Leo Hackney Boulevard. There will be approximately 16,000 Easter eggs, with hunts for two age groups; ages 0-3 at 10 a.m. and ages 4-11 at 10:15 a.m.

“This is a great opportunity for the whole family to come out and spend time together,” said Recreation Specialist Sherry Green of Greenville Parks and Recreation. “We always want to offer safe, local, free, family-friendly events for the people of Greenville to enjoy and this one has been popular since it started in 2009.”

The event is hosted by the City of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department and sponsored by 93.5 FM The Coyote, Walgreens, 1400 KGVL and 105.9 FM and Hunt Regional Medical Center (HRMC) of Greenville.

“We are so grateful to the businesses that sponsor the event,” said Green. “Without their support, this event would not be possible.”

Children will receive an Easter bag to use while hunting, courtesy of HRMC. Walgreens is providing the prizes for the Easter Coloring Contest winners and is also providing free photos with the Easter Bunny.
