There's still time to vote for FISH

GREENVILLE — There is still time to help Hunt County Shared Ministries (FISH) get “liked” on Facebook, and maybe land a big grant from Walmart.

FISH Executive Director Wally Jeffers said the agency has been nominated to make an application to the Walmart 2013 Fighting Hunger Together Facebook Challenge. FISH is one of only five agencies in North Texas invited to participate.

Walmart will be awarding $20,000 grants to the top 60 agencies that receive the most votes through next Tuesday, April 30, at midnight.

A total of 158 agencies nationwide, including FISH, were chosen to participate.

Those wanting to vote for FISH must be at least 18 and can vote once a day.

If FISH does win the grant, Jeffers said the money will be used to expand the agency’s Meals For At Risk Kids program, which currently is operating in the Greenville Independent School District, to three other school districts in the area.

FISH had received 2,167 votes as of Friday afternoon.

The web site which leads to the voting location is http://wm8.walmart.com/Hunger.
