Not much rain ... so far

GREENVILLE — Hunt County has not received bucket loads of rain, so far.

There are still good chances of additional showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for this afternoon, tonight and into Thursday and a flood warning has been issued for the overnight hours for expected minor flooding along Cowleech Fork of the Sabine River near Greenville.

But as of this morning, the local rain gauges haven't exactly been overflowing.

The National Weather Service reported that 48-hour rainfall totals in Greenville, as of 7 a.m. today, ranged from 15 hundredths of an inch to 34 hundredths of an inch. Commerce had the highest total in the county, with a little more than a half-inch received as of this morning. A gauge in Celeste recorded 19 hundredths of an inch.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for a 60 percent chance of showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. today, with a high near 55.

There is a 70 percent chance of showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm tonight, with a low around 42, and a 40 percent chance of showers Thursday with a high near 53.
