Filing for May 10 elections ends today

Three seats on GISD board, two on city council, on ballots

GREENVILLE — Filing ends today for the May 10 municipal and school district elections.

There are three seats on the Greenville Independent School District Board of Trustees and two seats on the Greenville City Council which will be decided during the elections.

Places 2, 3 and 4 on the Greenville ISD board  will be on the ballot in May.

Place 2 incumbent Tom Durham has filed and is facing Trena Stafford.

Incumbent Place 3 board member Dr. Kim Hunt Butcher has filed for re-election and is facing Michael Phillips.

Mitchal Vaughn has filed for the Place 4 seat and will face Lesley Overstreet.

Trudy Wineinger, who currently serves in Place 4, has chosen not to seek another term.

Filing for the school board election continues today at the Wesley Martin Administration Building, 4004 Moulton Street.

Places 3 and 4 on the Greenville City Council will be decided.

Greenville City Council member Jeff Dailey has filed for re-election to Place 3, while Holly Gotcher and Ramona B. Tiscareno have filed for the Place 4 seat.

Mayor Pro-Tem Velma Del Bosque-Hobdy serves in Place 4 and is eligible to seek re-election to the council.

Filing continues today at the City of Greenville Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street.

April 10 is the final day to register to vote for the election.

Early voting is scheduled between April 28 and May 6.
