A Caddo Mills man, wounded in a shooting last month, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault involving the incident.
John William Kincaid, 36, remained in custody at the Hunt County Jail Thursday evening in lieu of $25,000 bond, charged with one count of aggravated assault with a vehicle.
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said Kincaid was shot twice by a homeowner in the 200 block of Bethel Road on the morning of August 16.
“Kincaid has recovered from his wounds and is also being held for the parole board on a blue warrant,” Meeks said. “This suspect had just been arrested by our deputies three days prior to the shooting incident on charges of assault causing bodily injury-family violence at the Town and County Mobile Home Park. I am glad that we have this violent offender off the streets of Hunt County.”
Meeks reported his office was contacted at 10:29 a.m. that day about a suspicious vehicle in the 200 block of Bethel Road. Before deputies arrived on the scene, the sheriff’s communications division received another call from the same location, this time reporting shots had been fired.
Deputies arrived on the scene to find Kincaid had suffered two gunshot wounds.
Upon further investigation it was determined that the homeowner and Kincaid had been involved in an altercation resulting in the homeowner shooting the subject.
Kincaid was transported by air ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Dallas in critical condition. He was taken into custody at the jail on September 6.
