Heavy rain expected today, Wednesday

GREENVILLE — It may be time to dig out the umbrellas, as it looks like it will be wet today and Wednesday.

The National Weather Service forecast was calling for widespread and heavy rainfall during the next two days. Hunt County could see up to three inches of precipitation from the strong upper level storm system which is expected to cross North Texas starting today.

Even with the heavy rainfall, widespread flooding was not expected due to the ongoing drought conditions.

There was an 80 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm today, primarily after noon, with a high near 52.

There is an almost 100 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm tonight and Wednesday, with some of the storms able to produce heavy rain. The low will be around 50 overnight and a high near 56 Wednesday.

Showers are still likely, and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight Wednesday, with a chance of showers early Thursday morning a low around 47.

The rain finally ends Thursday, with a high near 61.
