Auto show, swap meet at Fairgrounds

GREENVILLE — Anyone looking for a hard-to-find automobile part, or who may want to check out some classic cars, will likely find what they are searching for at the Hunt County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The 14th annual Greenville Swap Meet and Eighth Annual Greenville Car Show starts today.

The Greenville Swap Meet was begun in 2000 by the Northeast Texas Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America as a way to allow automobile enthusiasts to display and/or sell their automobiles and parts and has grown to include more than 350 vendors. The Greenville Swap Meet will be operating between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday.

The Car Show is scheduled Saturday, with registration from 8 a.m. until noon and the judging starting at 1 p.m., with the awards presented two hours later. There is a $20 entry fee, with dash plaques presented to the first 75 entries and trophies for first and second places in all classes.

Entry to both events are free, with $3 parking. Those wanting more information can call 972-784-2281 or 972-979-3636 or can visit the event’s website at www.greenvilleswapmeet.com.
