Thunderstorms possible overnight

GREENVILLE — There could be some thunderstorms passing through the region during the pre-dawn hours, but no severe weather is currently expected and most of the rain is expected to take a break around the time of the Easter egg hunts tomorrow.

The National Weather Service forecast is calling for a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 a.m. Saturday, with a low around 61. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day, with a high near 74 and winds out of the south with gusts as high as 20 mph.

At least four community Easter egg hunts are scheduled in Hunt County Saturday morning:

— The annual Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the City of Greenville, is scheduled on the softball fields inside the Greenville SportsPark at the corner of Sayle Street and Kari Lane/Leo Hackney Boulevard. The event begins at 9 a.m. Saturday with free spring pictures by Walgreens, free egg hunting bags from the Hunt Regional Medical Center and opportunities for children to meet the Easter Bunny. There will be four separate hunts; one at 10 a.m. for children up to 3 years old; and three more starting at 10:15 a.m., each on a different field, for children 4 and 5 years old, for children ages 6 to 8 years old and for children 9 to 11 years old.

— North Baptist Church in Greenville is conducting a free Easter egg hunt starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Graham Park.

— The Kiwanis Club of Wolfe City is hosting the annual Easter egg hunt, for ages 1 to 12, starting at 1 p.m. Saturday at the city park. Prizes will be awarded during the event.

— The East Tawakoni Police Department is hosting the city’s annual Easter egg hunt at the Civic Center, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Children are asked to bring their own baskets.
