The circus is in town for the weekend

GREENVILLE — Greenville will be hosting a big top circus this weekend.

The Carson and Barnes Circus has scheduled two days of performances benefiting Ridgecrest Hispanic Baptist Church. The shows are scheduled for 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. today and Sunday at the Hunt County Fairgrounds.

The Hugo, Okla.-based circus comes complete with trapeze artists, jugglers, acrobats, horses, dogs, elephants and, of course, clowns.

The circus began in 1937 and in 2012 visited more than 250 communities across 15 states, performing more than 700 shows.

General admission tickets cost $16 for adults and $10 for children at the gate, or $14 and $8 in advance available online through the circus’ web site at www.carsonbarnescircus.com. Reserved seats, with backs, cost $3 more each and box seats — closest to the center ring with folding chairs — are $6 higher than general admission.
