Annual car show to benefit Special Olympics

GREENVILLE — For 10 years, lovers of automobiles, both current and classic, have found something to appreciate during the Roger Krodle Memorial Car Show.

The 10th annual event is scheduled Saturday at Family Fellowship Church, 401 Division Street in Greenville, which is also the sponsor for this year’s show.

One of the biggest benefit car shows in North Texas, the event typically draws a large crowd of entrants with proceeds going to benefit the Hunt County Special Olympics Booster Club.

Registration begins at 8 a.m., with judging starting at 11 a.m. and the awards presented at 2 p.m.

First and second places will be awarded in 20 classes of automobiles, from antiques to 90s and Up cars and trucks, with special prizes awarded for best car, best truck, best rat rod, best of show, Krodle Family pick and the Special Olympics pick. There is a $20 registration fee and dash plaques will be given to the first 100 paid registrants.

Krodle himself was an automobile enthusiast. A plumbing contractor and member of the Greenville Antique Car Club, Krodle died in July 2003.

His favorites were included as part of his funeral service and the memorial show came about after his wife mentioned she was going to miss attending the events.
