UPDATE: Names released in fatal crash

Two from A&M-Commerce women's basketball killed in crash

UPDATE: 9:07 a.m. - Names have been released in last night's fatal crash. Devin Oliver and Aubree Butts were killed in the crash. La'Tisha Hearne and Zenobia Winbush were the two women hospitalized following the wreck.

ORIGINAL: Four members of the Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team were involved in a two-vehicle accident late Tuesday afternoon on Loop 286 in Paris.

Officials are still investigating the incident, but can confirm two involved were pronounced dead on arrival at Paris Regional Medical Center. The two others are currently in critical condition.

“This is an unspeakable tragedy and a loss that is felt by the entire university community,” said Dr. Dan Jones, A&M-Commerce president. “It is made more grievous by the dreams that will not be fulfilled. Our prayers go out to the loved ones of those we have lost.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with our entire women’s basketball and student-athlete family right now,” said Ryan Ivey, A&M-Commerce Director of Athletics. “We are saddened and heartbroken by the recent events, by our time being cut short with two great people who were full of life and Lion spirit.”

A&M-Commerce officials are still coordinating a cooperative investigation with members of the Paris Police Department regarding details of the incident.
