Beating the heat with a free film

Greenville Police Department Movie Friday this week

GREENVILLE — The Summer of Safety, sponsored by the Greenville Police Department, has been helping local children beat the heat for years, by providing free and safe activities.

There is another chance this week for youngsters to enjoy a film for free.

Movie Friday is scheduled from 9 a.m. until noon Friday inside the Greenville Middle School Auditorium, and includes free popcorn and a movie.

Greenville Police Department Student Services Officers Richard Calender and James Hamilton supervise the activities, alongside volunteers from the Greenville Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, the Greenville Police Explorers post and the Greenville High School PALs program.

The Summer of Safety will continue Skating Friday on July 12 at Skate Safari and the Teen Police Academy July 15-19.
