The city of Royse City is seeking to annex about 60 acres of land, including some which falls in Hunt County.
The Royse City Council has two public hearings scheduled next week concerning the proposal, both of which are set during Tuesday’s session, starting at 7 p.m. in the Royse City hall at 100 West Main Street in Royse City.
Among the acreage which is the subject of the involuntary annexation is 14.31 acres, described as the Shelby Country School land, at 6515 West Interstate 30 in Hunt County.
Earlier this month, Royse City City Manager Carl Alsabrook said the I-30 property was on the list at the direction of the city council, which is interested in the location because it’s “developable property that’s good for future growth of the city for commercial and retail development.”
Annexing the other tracts, he said, would “square off” boundary lines and make it easier for service delivery and police response.
