A three-day holiday weekend for many

July 4 closings announced

GREENVILLE — Many people will get a three day weekend to celebrate Independence Day, as government offices will be closed Friday for the July 4 holiday.

All federal, State of Texas, Hunt County and City of Greenville offices will be closed Friday, including the Ja-Lu Park Municipal Swimming Pool, although emergency services will still be available.

Progressive Waste Solutions will not collect residential garbage or recycling Friday. Residential garbage collection will be performed on the next regularly scheduled collection day. Recycling and commercial pickup will be collected Saturday for those normally picked up on Friday and Monday for those normally picked up on Saturday.

On the other hand, Progressive will be conducting commercial garbage collections Friday.

The offices of Senior Center Resources and Public Transit will be closed, as will the administration offices of the Greenville Independent School District.

Post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.

Most banks will be closed for the federal holiday.

The business offices of the Herald-Banner will also be closed Friday.
