Christmas calendar overflows with activities, events in area

— An already busy weekend, filled with Christmas-related events across the area, has become even more hectic when all of the activities postponed from last week are added.



Friday

— Greenville’s “Downtown Christmas Parade”, with the theme “Songs of Christmas” will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, with the Phoenix School Choir performing at 6 p.m. in front of the Hunt County Courthouse.

— The Christmas on Park Street Wagon Rides rides are scheduled between 6 and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and December 20-21 and offer a leisurely tour of one of the city’s most elaborately lighted areas. The rides start from the parking lot of Park Street Baptist Church. Tickets $8 per rider.

— Quinlan ISD Christmas Winter Wonderland at the Joe Martin Administration Building and other sites, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Friday.



Saturday

— Cookie walk, 9 a.m. Saturday at United Presbyterian Church in Greenville.

— Downtown Quinlan Gospel Christmas Concert in front of Quinlan Police Department, 10 am. - 6 p.m. Saturday

— Farmersville Historical Society hosts annual Christmas Tour of businesses and homes. Tickets, $8; available from any historical society member or Dyer’s Drug Store.

— A Miracle on Main Street Festival and Parade day in Quinlan — festival begins at noon, parade 2 p.m., festival closes at 6 p.m. Saturday

— The annual Park Street Lantern Parade is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Participants often dress in Victorian costumes during the pedestrian and/or equestrian event, but are not required to.

— Josephine Christmas parade, 2 p.m. Saturday.

— Christmas in the Park at West Tawakoni City Park, 6:30 - 9 p.m. Saturday.

— Elf on the Square Christmas parade in downtown Farmersville, 7 p.m. Saturday.

— The Wolfe City Christmas Parade is scheduled downtown starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.

— A Jazzy Classic Christmas, 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Central Christian Church in Greenville. European Ensemble (four woman string quartet) and Brass Trio. Free to the public.



Sunday

— Candlelight Tour of Homes (Park Street), 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday Tickets, $10, available at Park Street Baptist Church or Calico Cat. Welcome Center at the church opens at 2:30 p.m. Free shuttle provided by Senior Center Resources and Public Transit.
