Two injured in afternoon crash

Patients airlifted to Dallas hospitals

GREENVILLE — Two air ambulances were needed Thursday afternoon at the scene of an accident on a dirt road in Greenville.

Two juvenile patients were airlifted to Dallas hospitals as the result of the one-vehicle crash, which occurred shortly after 1 p.m. on Roy Warren Parkway.

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck left the unimproved section of the roadway, just south of the intersection of Traders Road, crashed through a wire fence and struck a tree.

Police, fire-rescue and medical units responded to the scene. The two patients, both juvenile males, needed to be removed from the truck using the jaws of life. Both were reported to be awake and alert at the scene.

A unit from Air Evac Lifeteam and a unit from PHI Medical were dispatched to the location and landed in a field next to the roadway. Air Evac left for Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and the PHI Medical unit left for Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The conditions of the patients were not immediately available.
