Greenville Independent School District Superintendent Don Jefferies has been reappointed to serve on the City of Greenville Civil Service Commission.
The Commission, which helps oversee the Greenville Police and Fire Departments, is scheduled to meet next week.
The Greenville City Council voted Tuesday to return Jefferies to the Place 2 spot on the Commission, after he was recommended for the post by Interim City Manager Massoud Ebrahim.
“Mr. Jefferies has been a good fit for the Commission due to his knowledge of testing issues and appeal processes,” Ebrahim said in a memo to the Council.
Jefferies joins Tim Dooley in Place 1 and Curtis Williams in Place 3.
The Civil Service Commission has the power to hear and rule on employee disciplinary appeals, testing appeals and establishes local rules for the administration of the Police and Fire Civil Service System.
The Commission is set to meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street, at which time it will consider extending the deadline to submit the Intent To Test form for the Fire Battalion Chief promotional examination scheduled for August 16; and also consider extending the deadline to submit the Intent To Test form for the Fire Engineer promotional examination scheduled for August 19.
