Rob Etnyre believes actions speak louder than words.
That’s why he has been marching across America to spread his message that the United States Government needs to come to a vote to balance the budget.
Originally from Chicago, Etnyre began his march on Oct. 7, 2013 from Carlsbad, Calif., when he said he felt that enough was enough.
“To boil it down, I just felt something had to be done,” he said. “It has been all talk, but very few people were really putting out the real solutions to the problems.”
The problem, as Etnyre sees it, is the $17 trillion debt and rising that America is currently in, a trend he wants to stop.
“America is in unprecedented territory,” he said. “We need to get our financial house in order.”
Etnyre’s goal is to reach 1 million signatures before he reaches Washington, D.C.
According to him, he has had enough of “the blame game” and wants answers to the debt problem.
“I’m not laying blame. We are way beyond laying blame,” he said. “It’s time to come up with solutions.”
Etnyre currently has 189 of the 1 million signatures he wants on his website, but has an avid Facebook following of more than 1,500 people.
More bipartisan action and less party affiliation needs to happen before the government can begin to work together.
“We are past the talking point,” he said. “Action needs to be taken. Too much talk and not enough action.”
Etnyre said he believes whole-heartedly in the constitution and wants people to live the first line of the historical document.
“The only way I believe to do this if we the people unite to rise up and make it happen,” he said. “To give the people reason to hope again and rise up and make a stand.”
If nothing has been done by the time he reaches the capitol, Etnyre said he will continue marching “as long as it takes to get this thing down.”
“I love my country so much that I can’t just sit idly by and watch her fall into the abyss,” he said.
