The Greenville City Council intends Tuesday to make the resiults of Saturday’s council election official, while welcoming the newest council member and saying thank you to a current council member.
The council is scheduled to conduct a special meeting inside the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street, at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, at which time Saturday’s unofficial vote totals will be canvassed. Holly Gotcher received 119 votes (78.29 percent) to win the Place 4 seat over Ramona B. Tiscareno’s 33 votes (21.71 percent).
Current Place 4 Council member Velma Del Bosque-Hobdy did not seek reelection, while Place 3 Council member Jeff Dailey was unopposed in seeking another term.
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, there will be a reception for Gother, Dailey and Bosque-Hobdy, followed by the regular agenda at 6 p.m., during which Dailey and Gotcher will be sworn-in. A mayor pro-tem will also be chosen during Tuesday’s meeting.
