The GEUS board of trustees intends to meet this evening, to again discuss possibly hiring a new assistant general manager for the local electric utility system.
The board is scheduled to meet for a special session at 6 p.m. in the GEUS Operations Center, 6000 Joe Ramsey Boulevard. The search for a suitable candidate for the position has already taken seven months.
Under new business, the board intends to meet in executive session to discuss Employee Recruitment-Assistant General Manager under Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code, which allows for the deliberation concerning the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline or dismissal of a public officer or employee.
Should the board decide to take any action on the item discussed in executive session, it would return to the regular meeting in order to do so.
GEUS General Manager David McCalla had served the utility as assistant general manager until moving up to replace the retiring Tom Darte in 2006.
In October 2012 the board considered a proposal from the firm of Mycoff, Fry & Prouse to conduct the search for 28 percent of the annual agreed upon salary of the assistant general manager, with a minimum fee of $39,000, plus expenses. The fee would be payable with one-third of the estimated total in advance; one third when the firm submits a long list of candidates and the balance when the winning candidate begins employment.
