Suspects sought in reported Walmart theft

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Police Department is seeking multiple suspects allegedly involved in a Sunday night theft from a local business.

One witness reported being assaulted during the theft, in which three people took part.

City of Greenville Public Relations Liaison Autumn Barton said the incident occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, inside the lawn and garden department at the Greenville Walmart Supercenter, 7401 Interstate 30.

“The witnesses said three people attempted to commit a theft at the cash register,” Barton said.

According to the police department report, a short black woman in her 40s distracted the cashier after the register’s drawer was opened.

A slender black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, was said to have reached over and removed money from the register while a black female, five feet two inches tall with long braids in her hair, who was with the other two suspects stood by.

A female witness reported being threatened by the suspects and shoved by the male suspect.

The suspects were reported to have left the scene in a gray or tan four-door Pontiac Grand Am, with “18” possibly the last two digits of the license plate.

Anyone with information concerning the incident is being asked to contact the Greenville Police Department at 903-455-2900 or Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
