The Greenville Planning and Zoning Commission intends to meet today for its final session of the year, to consider whether to recommend approval of a permit to allow a used car lot to be established on Joe Ramsey Boulevard.
The Commission intends to conduct a public hearing before taking a vote on the request, included under the agenda for today’s regular session, starting at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 2821 Washington Street.
Bobby Stovall, representing Barrett Motors, is seeking a conditional use permit to allow a used auto sales facility at an unaddressed location on Joe Ramsey Boulevard, between Interstate 30 and Jack Finney Boulevard, across from Wesley United Methodist Church.
The property is currently undeveloped and is zoned general retail which allows for automobile sales with a conditional use permit.
The plan shows a 3,000 square foot office building and a 4,800 square foot service shop surrounded by parking and vehicular display areas. Landscape areas are shown along the east and west portions of the property.
In a memo to the Commission, Chief Building Official Steve Methven recommends approval of the permit, provided that Stovall include a 10-foot landscape area along the front of the property on the concept plan, show a required six-foot sidewalk along the roadway frontage, remove one of the access points to the property in accordance with the Texas Department of Transportation’s Access Management rules and modify the one allowed driveway to share access with the adjacent property in accordance with the City of Greenville Comprehensive Plan.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will vote whether to recommend approval of the permit to the City Council, which is expected to conduct a second public hearing and take a final vote on the matter when it meets on January 8.
