Moore’s family growing impatient

GREENVILLE — Family members of a murdered Greenville teenager say they have been quiet and patient, even as they have grown frustrated concerning the lack of information released on the status of the investigation into the death of Alicia Moore.

“In the next couple of weeks, that is all about to change,” said Jessica Nicole Byrd, Moore’s aunt. “It has been five months. We still don’t know anything. We still can’t get the autopsy report.”

Byrd did not specify what action the family was planning on taking, indicating they were waiting to see if anything significant transpires during the month of April concerning the case.

“They ask us to be patient because they are waiting on the DNA,” Byrd said, adding it has been a week since she had spoken to an investigator with the Greenville Police Department. “That’s all they keep telling us.”

Moore was last seen on the afternoon of Nov. 2, 2012 getting off of a school bus at the intersection of Bourland and Walnut Streets in Greenville. Her body was found four days later along FM 47 in Van Zandt County and the Greenville Police Department has joined with multiple other agencies in conducting a homicide investigation in the case.

Byrd said a $25,000 reward, begun in January for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Moore’s death, remains active.

Anyone with information concerning the case is being asked to contact Hunt County Crime Stoppers at 903-457-2929.
