It was a good year for selling houses in Hunt County during 2012, when compared to 2011.
A year end report from North Texas Real Estate Information Systems indicated that the numbers of new listings, closed sales and sales prices all increased between Dec. and Dec. 2012.
Sellers were getting a little bit more of their asking price, and it took less time to sell a home.
The report from the agency, which provides information management services to more than 23,000 Multiple Listing Services subscribers, including more than 5,000 real estate offices in North Texas, was released Thursday.
The median sales price of a new home in Hunt County as of the end of 2012 was listed at $95,950, reflecting a 12.9 percent increase from the end of 2011. The average sales price of a home in the county was reported to be $113,224, an increase of 6 percent from the figures from one year earlier.
Home sellers received 90 percent of their original asking price, up two-tenths of one percent, while there were 738 closed sales reported as of the end of 2012, an increase of 12.7 percent through the same point in 2011.
There were 1,355 new listings as of the end of last year, an increase of 1.5 percent from the same point 12 months earlier.
Homes were on the market in Hunt County for an average of 104 days, down 5.7 percent from the end of 2011.
