The recent snowfall, fog and light rains may have kept the ground damp, but has not yet reduced the drought conditions in Hunt County.
Many area lakes also remain parched due to a lack of rainfall so far during 2014.
According to the United States Drought Monitor, the entirety of Hunt County is still included under “moderate drought” conditions.
The information was released February 9, although the measurements were taken locally on the morning of February 7. The next report will be issued Thursday.
The level on Lake Tawakoni Saturday was reported to be 428.29 feet and the lake was 65.1 percent full. At the same point one year earlier, the level on Lake Tawakoni was 432.96 feet, and the reservoir was 81.8 percent full.
Tawakoni is still much better off than some nearby lakes. Lake Lavon was reported to be 48.3 percent full as of Saturday, while Cooper (Jim Chapman) Lake was 31.9 percent full Saturday.
