One arrested for alleged attack on police officer

GREENVILLE — An Oklahoma man was in custody Wednesday, charged with attacking a Greenville Police Department officer.

Bert Raymond Hunter, 42, of Hugo, Okla. was arrested in Greenville Tuesday and was still listed as being in custody at the Hunt County Jail as of Wednesday morning, charged with one count of aggravated assault against a public servant. There was no immediate word as to the amount of Hunter’s bond, if any.

Police records indicate Hunter was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon on the charge and a separate charge of driving while intoxicated.

Aggravated assault against a public servant is a first degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from five to 99 years to life in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.

No additional details were available Wednesday.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department also made five arrests Tuesday on outstanding warrants and arrested one person each for possession of a controlled substance/possession of marijuana and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Officers also answered 82 calls and filed 23 reports.

— Fred Lindley Jr., 52, Sulphur Springs, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of forgery and was sentenced to two years in a state jail.

— Christy Stone, 19, Greenville, forfeited bond on a charge of aggravated robbery. A warrant was ordered for Stone’s arrest and new bond was set at $50,000 cash only.

— Caunte Howard, 17, Greenville, forfeited bond on a charge of aggravated robbery. A warrant was ordered for Howard’s arrest and new bond was set at $50,000 cash only.
