For many people, one of the joys of the holiday season is getting the chance to hop in the car and marvel at all of the homes and businesses decorated for Christmas.
However, there don’t appear to be too many options for the activity in Greenville lately, at least according to readers of the Herald-Banner.
The paper asked on its Facebook page Friday for the locations of the best Christmas lights in the city. Several readers responded, but most said they were disappointed in the lack of decorations this year.
“Unfortunately there are not a whole lot of neighborhoods where you can go enjoy lights,” said Stacey Foley Wright. “It’s more like a house here and a house there. Most people don’t seem to get in the Christmas Spirit like they used to and really decorate. We just spend a couple of evenings driving all over Greenville looking for lights to enjoy!”
Of course, Park Street still has its fans, although some readers said this year’s displays are not as elaborate as in the past.
“Greenville citizens just do not take pride in their city like they should,” said Jerry Penny.
Laura Kerr recommended a house on the corner of Timberside and FM 1570, while Heather Lynn Brummett suggested Old Mill Road.
Kandace Sidwell Hyden said her parent’s house on Highland Oaks Drive is offering a display set to music between 6 and 11 p.m. nightly.
“Sit back and enjoy the light show,” she said.
