Grand jury returns assault, robbery indictments

GREENVILLE — The current edition of the Hunt County grand jury wrapped up its term by delivering multiple indictments involving the commission of alleged violent crimes in the county.

A local man was charged with allegedly using a vehicle in an intoxicated assault in July. Another Greenville resident was alleged to have broken into a home in June before attacking an individual with a knife. And a Quinlan woman was indicted for allegedly joining a Greenville man in an armed robbery in May.

The grand jury returned 36 indictments Friday, including eight indictments issued sealed pending the arrest and arraignment of the person or persons named in the charges. Four “no bills” were also returned Friday.

Since July, the panel had issued 326 indictments for consideration by the 354th District Court.

A new grand jury will be seated in January, to begin serving a six-month term serving the 196th District Court.

— Jay Allen Maxwell, 51, of Greenville was indicted on one count of intoxication assault. The indictment alleged that Maxwell was driving while intoxicated when his vehicle collided with another automobile on July 1, causing serious bodily injury to the female driver.

— Brandon Tyrone Key, 28, of Greenville, received an indictment for burglary of a habitation with the commission of other felony. Key was alleged in the indictment to have broken into a residence on June 23, and then to have attempted to assault or to have  assaulted a male victim with a knife. The indictment indicates Key has one prior felony conviction, for assault/family violence, in 2011.

— Sherry Wannell Davis, 22, of Quinlan received an indictment for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The indictment alleged Davis acted alongside Odis Dewayne McCrary of Greenville to threaten a female victim with a knife while in the course of committing a theft on May 19. McCrary was indicted in connection with the incident in September and currently has a March 2014 trial date set.

— John William Kincaid Jr., 38, of Caddo Mills, received an indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Kincaid was alleged in the indictment to have used a motor vehicle to threaten a male victim on August 16. Kincaid had a previous felony conviction listed on the indictment, for robbery, in 2010.

— Gary Dean White, 45, of Celeste, received an indictment for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. White was alleged in the indictment to have used a firearm to threaten a male victim on October 30.
