Hearings are scheduled today for two men, indicted on arson charges in connection with an allegedly set fire in Greenville during the summer of 2010.
Anthony Lawone Lewis of Greenville and Ronnie Darryle Lewis, who has listed addresses in both Greenville and Fort Worth in court records, have pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Jury selection had been scheduled for both of the defendants in September of last year. The Hunt County District Attorney’s Office had subpoenaed more than 40 witnesses to testify during the trial, which was cancelled. No trial date is currently set in the case.
Interim hearings are set today in the 196th District Court.
The Lewises each received one indictment for arson from the Hunt County grand jury in January 2011.
The indictments allege they were two of three people who set a fire or caused an explosion which damaged a residence in the 1400 block of Jackson’s Run in Greenville on July 20, 2010.
Arson is a second-degree felony, punishable upon conviction by a maximum sentence of from two to 20 years in prison and an optional fine of up to $10,000.
