Greenville Police Department issues new release concerning missing Alicia Moore

GREENVILLE — The Greenville Police Department is issuing an updated anouncement concerning a missing Greenville High School student.

City of Greenville Public Information Officer Lori Philyaw said there are some new details concerning the missing person's report filed Monday on Alicia Moore, who was last seen Friday afternoon.

"Instead of a black backpack, we have learned that it was an orange backpack with the initials S.F.A. on the back," Philyaw said. "That's the only new information that I have."

Greenville Police Department and Greenville Independent School District officials are investigating the circumstances behind Moore's disappearance.

Moore, a 16 year old African American female, was last seen getting off of a school bus Friday afternoon, at the corner of Bourland and Walnut Streets. Moore was wearing a white shirt with a black undershirt, a green jacket, pink headband and black glasses. Moore was carrying an orange backpack with the initials S.F.A. on the back. Moore was also wearing earrings and a necklace.

Moore is 5’1” tall and weighs 97 pounds, with medium length black hair, black eyes, and has braces.

The Greenville ISD was notified at 11:23 a.m. Saturday that Moore did not return home Friday. The Greenville High School principal was reported to have checked Moore’s schedule and to have interviewed teachers. The principal then reviewed campus security cameras. Footage showed the student exiting school safely and entering a Greenville ISD bus.

The district’s Transportation Department reviewed footage from the cameras on the bus which confirmed the student exiting the bus safely in the neighborhood near the student’s home at 3:25 p.m. Friday. The district’s Technology Department attempted to trace her iPad, however the device had been completely reset.

Anyone with information regarding the situation is urged to call the Greenville Police Department 903-457-2900.
