GREENVILLE — Many of us will have another day off in the middle of next week, as government offices and some businesses close for the first day of the new year.

City of Greenville offices and the W. Walworth Harrison Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, January 1 for the New Year holiday. Residential garbage for Wednesday customers will be skipped. Recycling and commercial garbage collection will be delayed one day. Those wanting more information can contact Progressive Waste (IESI) at 903-450-8282.

For after-hours utility emergencies, Greenville residents can call 903-457-2948.

Hunt County offices will be closed on the same schedule.

All State of Texas offices and federal government offices are scheduled to be closed on New Years Day, as will Senior Center Resources and Public Transit.

The business offices and the editorial department of the Herald-Banner will also be closed Jan. 1.
