Armed robbery case back on docket again

By BRAD KELLAR
Herald-Banner Staff

A Denton County man is again facing a charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, involving the reported armed hold-up of a Quinlan-area game room.

Trial had been scheduled to begin last month in the case against Willis Wilkin Langley IV, 22, of Lewisville, who had pleaded not guilty in connection with an incident in May at the Gray House Game Room.

Prosecutors requested dismissal of the charge, reportedly after the victim of the alleged robbery could not be located.

However, when the Hunt County grand jury met Oct. 24, it issued a new, sealed indictment against Langley for aggravated robbery. The charge was made public Wednesday, when Langley was arraigned and again pleaded not guilty during a hearing in the 354th District Court. Judge Richard A. Beacom set a tentative trial date on the charge for March 9, 2009.

Langley was arrested on May 28 following the reported robbery.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, Langley was alleged to have entered the business at 4752 Highway 276 West and pointed a gun at an employee, ordering him to turn over cash. Langley was reported to have made off with between $3,500 and $4,000.

The charge had been dropped in the case once before.

Following an examining trial held prior to his original indictment for aggravated robbery, the charge against Langley was dismissed and he was ordered released from the Hunt County Jail, as prosecutors did not present any evidence against him.
