Two-vehicle accident ties up traffic on highway

By DANIEL WALKER
Herald-Banner Staff

A two-vehicle accident in Floyd at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday sent three people to the hospital and snarled traffic at the busy intersection of Highway 380 and Farm Road 36 for more than an hour.

Allegedly, a northbound Ford Explorer, driven by Tommy Aguilar attempted to make a left turn onto 380 but was hit by a eastbound Ford Mustang, driven by a man with two children passengers.

Reportedly, the child in the back seat, suffered a head and possible internal injuries after his face hit the back of the front seat. He was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Dallas by a PHI helicopter out of McKinney.

The two front passengers of the Mustang were transported by ambulance to Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville while Aguilar refused treatment at the scene.

Caddo Mills emergency crews were quickly on scene providing first response, diverted traffic, and had the helicopter land on 380 just east of the accident.

State troopers are investigating the accident, but at the scene a driver of a flatbed truck, also eastbound on 380, reported that the Mustang passed him just before the collision and debris flattened one of his tires and knocked out a light on his vehicle.

Aguilar added that he was very lucky the car hit his Explorer just behind the driver compartment.
