MercyMe concert planned

Greenville’s own superstar Christian rock band is coming home for two big holiday concerts.

MercyMe, which hit the top of the charts with the 2001 single “I Can Only Imagine”, is scheduled to appear at 7 p.m. both Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 at Municipal Auditorium, 2821 Washington Street, for the “Mercy Me Is Home For The Holidays” event.

Portions of the proceeds will benefit the “Imagine A Cure” foundation, which helps the fight against juvenile diabetes.

General admission tickets are $20 each.

The group began locally several years ago and several of the band members reside in Greenville while not touring. The group’s latest CD, "All That Is Within Me”, was released in 2007.

MercyMe has received a Grammy nomination and has won several Dove Awards, as well as an American Music Award and has sold more than 5 million records.
