A local man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated assault, for threatening a woman with a shotgun in January.
Glenn Gene Guthrie III, 33, of Greenville, was indicted by the Hunt County grand jury in July on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and also received an indictment for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Guthrie was alleged to have threatened a female victim at a local apartment complex early on the morning of Jan. 15, by pointing a shotgun to her head. Guthrie was also prohibited from carrying the shotgun, as he had been convicted of evading arrest with a vehicle in November 2005.
Guthrie entered guilty pleas to both counts during an arraignment hearing Thursday in the 196th District Court. Under a plea bargain arrangement, Guthrie was sentenced to 10 years in a state prison on each charge.
